Root HTC One X on Android 4.0.3 using Flashing ClockworkMod Recovery And SuperSU

It’s the new era of the Taiwanese Mobile companyHTC” in the Android world with it’s new HTC One series. At the Mobile World Congress some times back HTC launched three new phones HTC One X, HTC One V and HTC One S, Since there release HTC One X has been the favourite of all the technology reviewers.

Not all the country users have got HTC One X ( Released on 2nd April )  and One S, only few have them. HTC focussed seriously on battery issues this time and improving the HTC Sense 4.0 UI.

Well as more and more number of users are buying this phone, there is a good news that Android Developers at XDA have managed to root HTC One X and here we present you a handy guide on how to root HTC One X.

How to Root HTC One X :-

Caution:- Rooting your HTC One X will void its warranty so do it at your own risk though HTC seriously allows you to unlock the bootloader.

Download Android SDK for Windows 7
File Name :- android-sdk_r18-windows.zip I Size - 35.71 MB
MD5 Checksum - bfbfdf8b2d0fdecc2a621544d706fa98
  • Download Following two files given below…
                     Download Interim ClockworkMod (CWM) Touch Recovery via MoDaCo Forums

 DOWNLOAD (ROMraid) – MD5: f47ebe81400c00ddefc0499d2a18b9fd
DOWNLOAD (ROMraid) – MD5: 4af6f2b658d2e13f72e928a72fcde9cd

Get the above files transferred to the “Fastboot” folder inside your Android SDK folder on your PC

Download CWM-Flashable version of SuperSU via XDA
File Name :- CWN-SuperSU-v0.87.zip I 555.23 KB.
Copy the above file to the root of your SD card.
  • Get your HTC One X connected to your PC via compatible USB Cable.
  • Rebooting into Recovery :- Turn off your HTC One X and when it is switched off completely then  ”press and hold Volume Down + Power buttons” to boot into recovery.
  • Flashing ClockworkMod Touch recovery :- Go to Start options of windows and open command prompt (CMD.exe) and carefully type the given below command in cmd. Better make sure first that r1-modaco-recovery-clockwork-touch-endeavoru.img file is already present in your platform-tools directory.

fastboot flash recovery r1-modaco-recovery-clockwork-touch-endeavoru.img 

ClockworkMod Touch should have been flashed to your device successfully now….

  •  Turn on your HTC One X and then again turn it off… “press and hold Volume Down + Power buttons” to boot into ClockworkMod Recovery this time ( as before done in step 5 )
  • Create a nandroid backup or simple backup your phone via accessing Backup and restore > Create backup.
  • Install SuperSU :- After back up is made then go to install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard and select file CWN-SuperSU-v0.87.zip , downloaded in step 2.
  • Reboot the phone for final time :- After installing SuperSU, reboot your HTC One X for the last time…

If all of the above steps are performed carefully and correctly your HTC One X is now unlocked and rooted fully. To confirm it check for the SuperSU app in your app drawer and then download any root-only app to check whether you are rooted or not.
