Blackberry Q10: In Depth Physical Review

Blackberry Q10: In Depth Physical Review

Blackberry has been sitting on the side while other mobile companies are gearing their yearly releases of their mobile devices for consumers to feast on. It is like RIM is going to do the one time big time thing for all Blackberry users.  On the first quarter of 2013 RIM released its first mobile device after a very long wait. It was a bit successful but not as extreme as what Samsung and Apple had when they showed off their wonderful phones last year.

On the second quarter of 2013, Blackberry will release the Q10 which has a physical QWERTY keyboard on a touch screen display. I have made some hands on review on it. I hope this phone works well for Blackberry to catch up the sudden loss of attention on the device world.

Here are the few hands on review for the Blackberry Q10:

Design details

It still has the classic Blackberry keyboard but the keys are made larger with bigger spaces for better access for the fingers. The keys are on the same size from left to right, so that everything is visually comfortable to the eyes and can be easily seen and helps the touch targeting.

Another thing with Blackberry Q10 is the stainless steel frame that sits around the phone. It is machined from solid block of three or four stainless steel that is incredibly durable and is designed to wear in and not wear out. The blackberry Q10 really gives a wonderful feel on the hands. It is coated with black PVD finish that won’t scuff, chip or mark.

On the Back, there is a beautiful glass weave back cover. It is designed exclusively for the Blackberry Q10 and it has been years in the making. RIM molded the material into 3D shape that makes it strong yet light weight. The carbon material has a really good feel to the hands and if you remove the back plate and flip it, you will see the antennae plate just like what RIM had with the blackberry Bold 9900.

The Phone

The screen itself is quite larger than the bold 9900 at least 25% bigger.  It is the largest screen that RIM has on a physical QWERTY keyboard device.  It is a 3.1 inch super AMOLED with a 720 x 720 resolution. It is a touch screen phone that most people love to date.  It has the front facing camera with 2 MP that you could use on personal shots and video calls on some Blackberry applications.

On the top, the phone has 3.5 jack, two microphones and the lock screen button.

The back has the flash and the 8MP camera. There is also a slot for the micro SD card so the memory is expandable for multiple files to be stored. It also has the micro simcard slot for the specific network access.

There are many speculations about the battery, whether or not it will pack a 2100 mAh battery life on release. We will see on the market release date if the battery will be 2100 mAh which will really be a big plus for the Blackberry Q10. The size of the battery is relatively like the Blackberry Z10 but a bit shorter on the length.
